Angel Fire Ski Resort, located in Angel Fire, New Mexico, offers a number of mountain resort activities during both the winter and summer months. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, you can fill your trip with activities like horseback riding, snowmobiling and ice fishing. If you like spending your vacations outdoors, you need to check out the Angel Fire Ski Resort.
Angel Fire Ski Resort Winter Activities
The base elevation of the Angel Fire Resort is 8,600 feet with a top elevation over 10,000 feet and a vertical drop of more than 2,000 feet. With more than 500 acres of skiable terrain and extended hours for night skiing, you have a lot of area to cover and a lot of time to cover it.
During the day, skiers and snowboarders can try out 75 trails and two terrain parks. Trails are geared primarily to intermediate-level skiers, but beginner and advanced skiers each have about 25 percent of the trails dedicated to them. Lighted night skiing is limited to roughly 50 acres, but includes a number of jumps, rails and boxes for terrain park skill building. Plus, you and your friends can try out the timed ski racecourse for a little friendly competition. Night skiing runs every night from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Because Angel Fire Resort is located at a slightly lower elevation than some of the other ski resorts, the winter ski season usually runs from mid-December to late-March, when natural snowfall is predictable. Each year the Angel Fire resort receives about 210 inches of snow, and supplements natural snow with manmade snow on about 50 percent of the trails.
In addition to alpine skiing and snowboarding, Angel Fire Ski Resort also offers a Nordic ski center and snow tubing. The Nordic center covers 11.5 kilometers of terrain with three trails – one each geared to beginner, intermediate and advanced Nordic skiers. The snow tube area includes three tracks covering a 1,000 foot groomed hill, plus a moving surface lift that will take you effortlessly back to the top of the hill.
